A “how to” for the OC Innovation Vault

What is it: The OC Innovation Vault is an online community to help learn about, connect with, and do business with Orange County’s biomedical and IT industries.

Why would I use it: The Vault is your resource to keep up with industry trends and connect with the community. With The Vault, you can:

·         Learn about current trends and news in your industry

·         Know about current programs and events that make sense for you

·         Connect with your peers

·         Direct access to talent and money

·         Learn about the up-and-coming entrepreneurs in your space

·         Share what you know in an open forum

·         Promote, market and sell your product or service

How do I use it:

·         Go to www.ocinnovationvault.com

·         You will see three categories:

o    Learn

o    Connect

o    Commerce

·         If you click on “Learn” you will now see a menu of categories to choose from. Topics of high interest for company professionals include:

o    Programs and Events – great networking  and learning opportunities

o    Innovation Research – learn what’s hot in your sector

o    OC Technology Sector – see what companies are out there

o    OC Biomedical Sector – see what companies are out thereo    So Cal Capital – stats on funding and links to regional VCs and investors

·         If you click on “Connect” you will see a new menu of categories – much like an “innovation White Pages -  to choose from. Company professionals tend to like the following:

o    Professional Services – listings of service providers who can help

o    Capital – VCs and investorso    Jobs/Talent – great to find a resource, or an opportunity

o    Forum, Blog, Wiki, LinkedIn, Facebook – Interact with the entrepreneurial community in real time

!·         If you click on “Commerce” you will now see a new menu. This is the section to “do business” with the community. As we grow, you will see that some sections ask you to fill out a brief form if you’d like to sell your product or service. Also, be sure to scroll through these sections:

o    Services Available – current service providers in OC

o    Commercial Real Estate – see what’s available in OC
